Marc Fuckin' Ford gave me the peace sign when i showed my peace sign to his. This event pretty much made my life.
anyways, i guess i'll get this concert review overwith right abouuuuuuuuut now:
doin' this on a song by song basis-
Stare It Cold- beauty of an opener, i love Ford's slide work with it, CR beltin' it out of course
Go tell the Congregation- i wasn't real familiar with this song, due to the fact that i don't always pay alot of attention to By your side material, but i feel it translated live extremely well
Sting Me- this is a fucken gem. Not only were jmac and joey just aching to here this song, they pulled it off fucking awesome. it just fell in to place perfect
Soul Singin'- due to some unkown reason, this song is amazing. maybe it's just everyhting about it. The jam int he middle is amazing
Seeing Things- a wonderful, soulfull ballad number type thing, and i must say CR at his best, with wonderful guitar playing
My Morning Song- didn't expect to hear this one, as they played it the night before, but again, the jam in this one is perfect. what can i say?
She Talks To Angels-uhhh i'm a closet fan of this song. Done very appropriately
A conspiracy- this one came out of left field. I was so definately not expecting it at ALL. yet in true black crowes fashon, it turned out perfectly.
Jealous Again- another classic cut of shake your money maker. I really thought letting Rich sing some lead vocals was tastfully done, and it added new life to an "old" one.
Twice As Hard- Yet another from shake your money maker, and it was done up to a quality only the crowes can acheive
Remedy- what a closer. i can only imagine some of the petty fans going "They Played the TILT SONG MAN!" which is kind of wierd... but i love the song none the less.
other points to ponder: -CR is just powerfull. There's no other way to put it. he belts out those tunes with soul, man.
-Rich and Marc are the greatest guitar duo ever. Rich provides extraordinarily (insert good adjective that i can't think of here) rhythm guitar licks, that i'm sure most lead players can't even touch. Marc puts out the tastiest, most well chosen(if that comes through right, i hope you konw what i am trying to say) solos and lead parts ever.
-Sven Really does add alot to the bass department. wow... it's sad that people don't really recognize what he does. His fingers are up and down that neck so quickly, and i think he contributes heavily to the live sound.
-Stevie G, is simply Stevie G(perfection on the drums)
-Crowes fans are easy to approach and talk to, and are a gregarious bunch
-Petty was put to shame, despite the fact that he put on a wonderful show
-Even though the solo during Melinda was beautiful, Bentmont Tenche(sp?) is not as good as Eddie Harsch, at least in my mind, for what it's worth
-Even though it seems like i'm bashing him, Petty still put on a great show. And mike campbell is a god on guitar, and that really small rickenbacker which if i'm not mistaken was a mandolin.
